Wellers Auctions reported some 1500 lots changed hands at the most recent auction held at the West Meon Saleground in Hampshire. Entries for all sections were strong across the field with the Rural and Domestic Bygones sale and the Farm Machinery and General Sundries being the most popular.

Typically the largest crowd gathers round to watch, bid, and buy the farm machinery, livestock equipment and general farming sundries. This sale was no different. Our Machinery Auctioneer Rob Snelgar was delighted that the majority of lots sold exceeded expectation. The Bomford Hedge cutter for £3,450, The New Holland baler for £1850, the Tarlex Zagroda 6’ drum mower for £1,600, the Kuhn KW1400 round bale wrapper for £4,600, and the 11ft single hay rake for £855. Following the machinery was a huge run of livestock equipment, mainly cleared from one farm that had to shut its doors after suffering financial difficulty as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Wellers Auctions stepped in to help the farm disperse of the equipment.

Tom Lofts begun the auction of General builders sundries, Warehouse and new tools, and general miscellany and was joined by Auctioneer Mike Higgins. Selling lots of ten scaffold boards for £135, Acrow props for £150, Hudson Kayak for £100, Suzuki 65hp outboard engine for £165, 1970’s Honda motorbike refurbishment project for £80. This auction always has a variety of lots to buy with loads of interest from buyers.

Tom moved onto sell the Rural and domestic bygones with fellow Auctioneer Wayne Brough. The anvils sold for £240, £190, £180, £175 and £150, the old Canadian style canoe for £190, Greek God stone statue for £180, Ships cannon for £150, Milk churn for £105, Shepherds tar pot for £50, large ships bell for £130.

After waiting patiently all morning Auctioneer Andrew Snelgar was called into action in the afternoon for the sale of Work shop tools and Light ground maintenance machinery. His best lots of the day were a Howard Dragon Rotovator for £330, Stihl MS460 chainsaw for £325, both Work benches with vices for £285 and £210, Pipe bender for £175 and the Hyundai generator for £105.
