We would like to inform our bidders of a small update to our Buyers Premium (BP) structure, which will apply from this weekend’s auctions onward (Weekend of 17th January 2026).
This change has been made to ensure consistency across lower-value lots while allowing us to continue delivering a professional auction service across all departments.
What Is Changing?
From this weekend’s auctions, the Buyers Premium applied to lower-value lots will be adjusted as follows:

Items selling for under £15 (hammer price) will now attract a Buyers Premium of 30.5% + VAT

Items selling for £15 and over (hammer price) will continue to be charged at 28% + VAT
*Previously, the higher Buyers Premium rate applied only to items selling for under £10. This threshold has now been increased to £15.
Why Has This Been Updated?
Lower-value lots still require the same level of handling, cataloguing, storage, administration and payment processing as higher-value items. Adjusting the threshold helps us maintain efficiency and service standards across all auctions, particularly where large volumes of lower-value lots are involved.
When Does This Take Effect?
This updated Buyers Premium structure comes into effect from this weekend’s auctions which will include our Sunday timed auctions on the 18th January 2026, and will apply to all relevant lots moving forward with the exception of specific specialist or antique auctions. Please always check the ‘Fee’s & VAT’ information within our Important Auction Information for each auction to be sure what the fee’s are for the auction you are considering bidding in.
