Charity Auctions, Surrey Advertiser June 07

Wellers Auctioneers of Chertsey have helped to raise over £40,000 for  charities in the last weeks after a string of requests came from Local Charities for their auctioneering skills.  Auctioneers Mark Longson, Rupert Stevens, Mark Harrington, Terry Wright and Tim Duggan have all given up their free time to boost Charity funds. Those benefiting  from their auctioneering skills were the White Lodge Centre, West Clandon and Mickleham schools,  two Leukaemia charities and Walton Firs Scouts.

Kirsten Howie of White Lodge, a centre of excellence for those with handicaps, said,' Wellers have been generous supporters of our centre for some time and have made a huge difference to our charity events, we had a fantastically successful and fun evening and simply couldnt have managed without them.'

Back at their Chertsey saleroom the June sale included a huge array of jewellery, diamond jewellery proving particularly popular with a pair of princess cut ear studs selling for £3,800 and a diamond line bracelet selling for £3,050. Among the more modest lots a pretty diamond set Victorian ring  made £340 and a Faberge enamel ring sold for £310.

The Art section saw fierce bidding on an unframed  Joan Miro watercolour which sold for £1,350 a poster signed by the same artist sold for £340 . A teak garden table and two benches sold for £920 . In the ceramics section a rare  Clarice Cliff Toby jug of Winston Churchill created a lot of interest  with the hammer falling at £1350.                                                                                                                                   Wellers next Antique and Jewellery sale is on the 20th and 21st of July.
